Rooted in the Gospel: A Church that Changes the World
FOCUS TEXT: Romans 12:1-16
As we concluded our “We Are Family” series this past Sunday, we reflected on what it means to be a church family truly rooted in the Gospel. Over the weeks, we’ve explored our identity, responsibilities, and the incredible blessings of being part of God’s family. Now, it’s time to live out these truths.
Our journey through Romans 12 highlighted the transformative power of the Gospel in our lives and how it shapes our community. When we are rooted in the Gospel, every aspect of our lives—our thoughts, actions, and relationships—is profoundly impacted by the truth of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Paul’s exhortation in Romans 12 challenges us to live as living sacrifices, fully surrendered to God, allowing the Gospel to renew our minds and transform our lives. Here’s what we focused on Sunday:
Surrender to God and Active Membership in His Family (Romans 12:1-2)
Grow in Humility (Romans 12:3)
Cultivate Unity and Diversity (Romans 12:4-5)
Serve with Faith and Zeal (Romans 12:6-8)
Love Genuinely (Romans 12:9-10)
Live with Zeal for the Mission (Romans 12:11)
Be Patient, Hopeful, and Constant in Prayer (Romans 12:12)
Practice Generosity and Hospitality (Romans 12:13)
Bless Others and Live in Harmony (Romans 12:14-16)
Surrendering fully to God leads us to live as living sacrifices, allowing the Gospel to reshape every area of our lives. This foundation of humility helps us value every member of the body, fostering unity. As we embrace our unique gifts, we are called to serve one another with faith and zeal, reflecting Christ’s sacrificial love. Genuine love in action drives us to live out God’s mission with enthusiasm. In the face of trials, we remain hopeful, patient, and constant in prayer, trusting in God’s care. Our transformed hearts overflow with generosity and hospitality, opening our lives to others and meeting their needs. Finally, we commit to blessing others and living in harmony, even with those who wrong us, demonstrating the grace and humility of Christ to a watching world.
As we move forward from this series, let’s commit to being a church family that lives out these Gospel-rooted truths. Let’s take ownership of what we’ve learned and begin to bear the fruit that comes from knowing Christ and walking together as God’s family.
